When does a home need complete rewiring instead of targeted repairs?

A complete rewire becomes more practical when outdated, damaged or ungrounded wiring is widespread; the room layout is changing; circuits are poorly distributed; or renovation walls and ceilings are already open. Seafield compares the affected systems and access before recommending a whole-home scope.

How much does a whole-home rewire cost in Suffolk County?

Many complete open-wall residential rewires are planned in the $14,000–$20,000 range, but square footage alone does not set the price. Service work, access, circuit count, kitchens and baths, lighting, controls, appliances, finish level, permits and existing conditions determine the written scope.

Should the service upgrade be included with the rewire?

Not automatically. Seafield reviews the service rating, equipment condition, calculated demand, panel space and future loads. A suitable existing service may remain; a deteriorated or undersized system may be more effectively coordinated with the renovation.

What should be decided before rough wiring begins?

Room use, furniture and cabinetry, appliance schedules, lighting and control zones, HVAC equipment, exterior power, EV or generator plans, device locations and future wiring should be reviewed before boxes and cables are placed.

Yes. Plans, reflected-ceiling layouts, appliance and HVAC schedules, control decisions, inspection timing and finish responsibilities can be coordinated with the project team. The written proposal defines Seafield's scope and exclusions.

What happens after the rough inspection?

After required approvals and the other trades complete their work, Seafield returns for devices, fixtures, controls, panel completion, testing, labeling, punch-list work and final closeout within the agreed scope.
